I am taking part in 13 Bridges Challenge in support of SSAFA
I am taking part in 13 Bridges Challenge in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. On 27th June 2026 I will be walking 10-mile's across 13 iconic bridges in London, to celebrate National Armed Forces Day and raise vital funds to support our Armed Forces Community.
I am a veteran having served for 26 years in the Royal Navy. The Navy was a large part of my life providing me with a clear purpose and the safety and security of being part of a close family where trust, loyalty and courage were fundamental principles that guided my actions and development.
Along the way, I served with very special people who inspired, encouraged and supported me. I owe the Royal Navy and the Armed Services a great deal and want to commit to supporting the men and women who are serving today or have served in the past.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2024 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 50,000 people, including veterans, serving personnel (regulars and reserves) and their families.
SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.

Hi Mark, Hope you and your family are well. You may not remember me (even though I gave you a lot of memorable problems at clayesmore) but you had a big impact on my development and I’m sure I wouldn’t be where I am today without your stern guidance and I have always appreciated that you cared enough to have a strong hand on my shoulder to always keep me pointed in the right direction when I was wandering down the wrong path. I’m sure you have helped many young men before and after me, and especially at that age where it is so important to have good male role models around, I want you to know that the value of the time and genuine care you provided to shape my future is priceless to me. Best of luck with your fundraising, sounds like a wonderful cause. Wishing you all the best, Rupert Nodder
